Ethics & Publication Policy

The Journal of Historical Science upholds academic integrity, transparency, and scientific impartiality throughout its publishing processes. Our journal fully adopts and implements the "Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing" (2022) jointly declared by COPE, OASPA, DOAJ, and WAME.

Academic Misconduct and Integrity of Scholarly Literature
- Plagiarism and Similarity: All manuscripts are screened via iThenticate or intihal.net. The similarity index must not exceed 15% (excluding bibliography). Plagiarism, self-plagiarism, and salami-slicing are absolute grounds for rejection.
- Data Falsification and Fabrication: Manuscripts involving data manipulation or fictitious sources are immediately expelled from the evaluation process.
- Citation Manipulation: Inclusion of irrelevant references solely to inflate citation metrics is strictly prohibited.

Authorship and Contributorship
- Authors must have made direct and substantive academic contributions to the work (ICMJE criteria).
- Gift/guest authorship and ghost authorship are scientific misconduct.
- Use of AI tools must be declared in the Acknowledgment section. AI cannot be listed as an author.

Conflicts of Interest
- Authors must declare any relationships that could influence their work at submission.
- Reviewers must notify the editor and recuse themselves upon identifying conflicts of interest.
- Editors cannot manage manuscripts where they have personal or professional conflicts of interest.

Complaints and Appeals
Complaints must be submitted in writing to the Editor-in-Chief via tarihbilim.org. The Editor-in-Chief shall respond transparently in accordance with COPE guidelines.

Intellectual Property and Licensing
All articles are published under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0) license.

Corrections and Retractions
- Corrections: Minor errors not affecting findings will result in a correction notice in the subsequent issue.
- Retractions: Fundamental errors, data fabrication, or severe plagiarism will result in immediate retraction per COPE Retraction Guidelines.
